Local, licensed, and based here
Woonona Builders the Illawarra Keeps Calling Back
We're Bevan and Jarrad, two licensed builders based right here in Woonona. Between us we've got over 25 years on the tools, and most of our work across the Illawarra comes from word of mouth, a past client, a neighbour or a mate passing our name along.
Unlike the Shire side of the business, the Illawarra is where we offer the full range: decks and pergolas, bathroom renovations, carpentry renovations and detailed architectural work. Whatever the job, the same two people who quote it are the ones building it. No subcontracted crew, no handing you off once the deposit's paid.
If you've been referred to us, this page confirms what you already heard. If you've found us cold, have a look through the work and the reviews, and judge for yourself.
What we build in the Illawarra
The Full Range, One Team
In the Illawarra we handle everything from a new deck to a full architectural fit-out, all under the one licensed team.
Decks
Timber and composite decks built for coastal exposure, with substructures and fixings specified to last.
Pergolas
Pergolas, patios and roofed outdoor areas that turn an unused yard into a space you'll actually use.
Bathroom Renovations
Full bathroom renovations with the waterproofing done to standard and documented, not just done to look right.
Carpentry Renovations
Extensions, reconfigurations and structural carpentry for homes that need more than a surface refresh.
Outdoor living
Custom joinery, staircases and feature timberwork built from architects and designers plans.

Built to last
Why the Way It’s Built Matters
The most expensive mistakes in building and renovating are the ones you can't see. Here's where we focus.
The parts you can't see
Substructures, fixings and waterproofing decide whether a build lasts. We get the hidden parts right, because that's where a cheap job quietly makes its margin back.
Coastal-spec, done properly
Illawarra salt air is hard on the wrong materials. We spec for the conditions, from deck fixings to bathroom membranes installed to AS 3740.
Licensed and insured
You're dealing with licensed builders and fully insured work, and the same two owners from the first quote to the final handover.

Common Questions From Illawarra Clients
What do you build across the Illawarra?
The full range: decks, pergolas, bathroom renovations, carpentry renovations and architectural carpentry. The Illawarra side of the business carries everything, so whether it's a new deck or a full renovation, it's the same licensed team handling it.
Which Illawarra suburbs do you cover?
We're based in Woonona and work right across the Illawarra, including Wollongong, Thirroul, Corrimal, Bulli, Austinmer, Figtree and Helensburgh. If your suburb isn't on the list, get in touch, there's a good chance we cover it.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Bevan and Jarrad are both licensed builders and every job is fully insured. You're dealing with the two owners directly, not a subcontracted crew running under someone else's licence.
Do you also work in the Sutherland Shire?
Yes, through our Shire trading name, Broadwater Decks and Pergolas, which focuses on outdoor living across the Sutherland Shire. Same team and same standard, just a separate local listing so you reach the right team for your area.
